# Uploads

Add images, PDFs, KML, KMZ, and weather files to a design.

## Add a file

Click **Upload** in the editor toolbar or drag files onto the map. Select the files to add and review any messages about unsupported or unreadable files.

The upload dialog lists the accepted formats and size limit. Image and map-layer uploads become design objects. Weather files are added to the organization's weather library and selected for the design.

Uploads require an editable design.

## Images and PDFs

Use an image or PDF as a site reference. Select the imported image to adjust its position, rotation, size, or appearance in the inspector.

Use draw-to-resize when you know a distance in the image. Draw the reference length, enter its real distance, and check the result against another known dimension.

## KML and KMZ

KML and KMZ uploads add geographic shapes to the map. Inspect their location and visibility before using them as design references.

## Where uploads show

**Map layers › Imports** controls imported-layer visibility. Uploaded images and KML objects also appear in the **Civil** lane of the [Layers panel](https://docs.solesca.com/editor/layers/), where you can select, rename, hide, or delete them.

## Weather files

Weather uploads change the weather used for modeling. Review the uploaded file and the selected source before running **Model**. See [Weatherfiles](https://docs.solesca.com/system/weatherfiles/) for the supported hourly CSV format and time settings.

## Downloads

Choose which imported layers to include in [renderings and CAD](https://docs.solesca.com/downloads/rendering-cad-google-earth/). Keep a DXF and its accompanying images together when sharing the exported ZIP.
