Solesca v2 is live at [app.solesca.com](https://app.solesca.com/). Sign in with your existing account. Your projects and designs are available there.

## Your existing designs

Designs carried over from v1 open with their saved layout, results, and files in view-only mode. This preserves the version you used for earlier work.

Click **Made in Solesca v1** at the top of the editor to open **Upgrade to Solesca 3D**. Use **Layout** to compare **Solesca v1** with **Solesca 3D**. Review the module count, movement, energy information, and any work the card says will remain in the snapshot.

Click **Upgrade** when you are ready to edit the design in v2. Review the new layout and run **Model** before using its production figures. Changes to the layout, equipment, inverter groups, and modeling can change the results.

Upgrading keeps the v1 snapshot. Use the version control beside the design name to switch between **Solesca 3D** and the **Solesca v1 snapshot**. The snapshot stays view-only and provides its saved results and available files.

A manually locked design remains locked. Duplicate it from the project's design list to continue working. A viewer needs an editing seat to upgrade. If an upgrade fails, the design stays as it was; retry or use **Contact Concierge**.

## What moved

| In v1 | In v2 |
| --- | --- |
| Wiring zones | [Inverter groups](https://docs.solesca.com/editor/inverter-groups/) |
| Export | **Download**, at the top right of the editor |
| Simulate and the separate SolarFarmer button | **Model**, with a simulation model selector |
| System libraries and templates | Settings under **Equipment** and **Templates** |
| Organization settings | Settings › **Administration › Preferences** |
| Personal settings | Settings › **Account › Profile** |
| Imagery picker | **Map layers**, at the bottom left |
| Field bifaciality | The module's equipment settings |

Settings also groups **Weatherfiles** and **Integrations** under **Features**.

## What's new

- [Terrain tracking](https://docs.solesca.com/editor/terrain/) follows the site and shows pile reveals. It is an add-on.
- [3D views and shadows](https://docs.solesca.com/editor/map/) let you inspect the design from different angles and times of day.
- [Solesca Core and Pro](https://docs.solesca.com/editor/simulate/) join NREL SAM and SolarFarmer. Core is the default; availability depends on the design and your access.
- [Design templates](https://docs.solesca.com/system/design-templates/) show differences and let you choose when to apply updates.
- [Energy modeling templates](https://docs.solesca.com/system/energy-modeling-templates/) keep reusable modeling assumptions together.
- [Terrain products](https://docs.solesca.com/system/racking-products/) provide reusable racking settings.
- [Projects and portfolios](https://docs.solesca.com/start/projects-and-designs/) include status, priority, lead, and design locks.
- [Profile and security](https://docs.solesca.com/start/profile/) includes two-factor authentication.
- [Integrations](https://docs.solesca.com/system/integrations/) includes multiple named API keys with individual revocation.

See [Solesca v2 release notes](https://docs.solesca.com/release-notes/) for the release highlights.

## Engineering and downloads

[Engineering mode](https://docs.solesca.com/engineering/overview/) is available in v2. Use it to configure and place electrical equipment, review wiring, and prepare engineering deliverables.

The **Download** menu includes reports, energy files, renderings, CAD, PVsyst, Google Earth, and capacity tests. Terrain designs also offer **Pile Reveal**. Engineering mode adds **DC String**, **AC Wiring** when equipment is placed, and **BOM**. The interconnection package has its own action. See [Downloads](https://docs.solesca.com/downloads/download-menu/).

## Features from v1

ARGUS obstruction detection remains available. ARGUS Design, the automated end-to-end design feature, is retired.

New battery design and BESS simulation are not available in v2. Battery information and available BESS files from an existing v1 design remain part of its preserved record.

For a workflow you cannot find, use [Concierge](https://docs.solesca.com/start/concierge/). Do not delete an existing design to try to recover its v1 results.
