Your first design

Create a project, lay out a field, model its energy, and download a report.

Before starting, add the equipment you use to your organization’s library under Settings › Equipment. See Modules and inverters. You need an editing seat to change a design.

  1. Open Projects, click Project, enter a name, and click Create. In the project, click Design, name it, and click Create.
  2. Find the site with Go to location in the editor toolbar, or press /. Search for an address or coordinates and choose a result.
  3. Select the field drawing tool. Click the field’s corners and finish the shape with Enter. Return to Cursor when you finish drawing.
  4. Select the field. In the inspector, choose its Type, such as Ground with Fixed-tilt, or a roof with the appropriate racking.
  5. Choose a Module and Inverter under Module & electrical. Review string length, inverter sizing, and any inverter-group warnings.
  6. Set the field setback and racking dimensions. Add obstructions and review the layout in 3D. For a sloped ground-mount site, enable terrain tracking if you have the add-on.
  7. Review the weather source and energy modeling settings. Apply a suitable template and check its assumptions.
  8. Click Model. Solesca Core is the default on a new flat design. Read the results panel and address any errors or warnings.
  9. Open Download › Report, choose Design report, review the drawing options, and download the PDF.

Review the layout, equipment, assumptions, and results before sharing the report. After a design change, model it again so the reported energy describes the current version.
